Doug, I would be concerned about the difference in diameter causing uneven braking. I do not speak from experience because I've not tried to do what you are suggesting, but as I see it, the drums will react differently to heat build up. The thinner drum will probably fade sooner than the thicker drum and cause pulling. Machine shops have told me that .060" over is the limit, but I do remember a few years back some discussion on this list that the Chrysler drums could safely be turned farther. Have you checked the service manual to see what it says? Keep in mind it is important to get those shoes arced to the drum so the contact is right from the start. Let us know how it works out.
