The Highway HiFi was an option 1955 to 1959. I believe the RCA came out in
1959. I don't know for how long, though.

That could be the case, and might explain my thoughts of a longer  "run".  I
do not have any material on dealer installed items, but I'll bet  someone on
the 'server does!!

Didn't they go to an  RCA unit after that for the next several years?  It
was a non-Chrysler manufactured  (and I am fairly sure a dealer-installed)
unit 
which might explain the absence  of the item in the manual.
