Ray, Carl, and Group. If you want um' all the same,
pull the locks out of the doors, and the back end, and
the ignition and go get-er-done. As for the same keyz
for different years, tell yeah what I've learned the
hard way. The change took place between '67 and '68.
All 5 pin tumblers from '57 to '67. All 6 pin tumblers
from '68 'til they went to the double cuts in the
early or mid '80s. The rosettes are a different
diameter (they won't fit in the handles) and the 6 pin
tumbler mechanism is longer and larger. I ran into
this with my '61 when I had to replace the ignition.
I've got ah thing for the keyz with the crystal
pentastar in um'. That key will fit the '57 to '67
tumbler even tho' the groves are a thousandth or two
off and it's about an 1/8th" longer. My locksmith has
been in the business a little over 50 years and just
laughed at me when I suggested the keyz could be
modified. I now carry two keyz. A crystal key for the
ignition, and an original for the doors and the gate.
