Ryan, The proof is when you pull out the old rod and lay it on the bench next to the new one.? When my engine was built, the mechanic thought that those rods never wear out so he didn't bother to replace it.? When I pulled out the old rod it was about 1/4 inch shorter than the new one, and all the wear was at the top of the rod. I think if you have a fuel pump with a stiffer spring you will wear out the rod sooner because the pump spring puts a lot more pressure on the rod.? There is more wear on the top of the rod due to the spinning of the cam.??I bought the new rod from the local Chrysler dealer for around 7 bucks. My other B / RB engines have had twice the milage and the abuse and I never encountered the problem before.? ? Does anyone have any proof they wear out? Has anyone compared measurements to a new one?
