Re: [Chrysler300] Hurst Spoiler Support

As I understand it, after the Hursts were built, the problem started to
show up. It was caused by owners using the spoiler to close the
trunk, stressing the spoiler.
Of course, even as they tell you with modern cars with spoilers, DON'T
use the spoiler to slam the lid, use the actual lid under the spoiler.

The fix, done by the dealers, was to install a fiberglass brace that
was made to fit for support. A hole was drilled inside the trunk, the
brace was slid into place, and a bolt held it in place. Not sure if
there is a captive nut installed in the spoiler, but it seems so. I can
send photos, if you want. I have a spare trunk lid which has none.
My Hurst has 2 supports, equally spaced at the 1/3, 2/3 points. I've
never seen another with 2.
I bought my Hurst from the Dealer Principal, who owned it from 10K
miles and about 2 yrs. old. He didn't know about the cars until after
they were sent to the dealers, and said it took him 2 years to find one
to buy. I assume he had the supports installed in his dealership. They
told me he had an old mechanic who took care of the Hurst, which he
drove daily for many years to and from work.

Hey all,
have heard rumors but have never actually seen a factory
support for the spoiler on the trunklid of the Hurst. Have had a
problem with
cracks forming on the right and left sides of the lid and now that the
car is
freshly painted I'm going to try to avoid closing the lid by the
spoiler but
I'm sure sooner or later it's going to happen.

Was there ever a kind of a support available to keep the
spoiler from sagging? Anyone making repros or should I try to fabricate
  something?

  Thanks,
