Hi Guys and Gals, Here is some info you may need to make your 2008 vacation plans. We hope you include "Meeting" with us as a part of them. In both cases, we recommend that you visit the Motels Websites for room info, prior to calling. There are choices to be made, and with Eagle River, you might want to rent a condo and share with some friends or relitives. Come play with us at both 300 Meets, the Spring meet will be cheap enough to save money for the Fall one. It is not to early to make your plans for the 38th Spring and 38th Fall Chrysler 300 International Club Meets. Spring Meet 2008 The Spring Meet will be held May 28 - May 31, 2008 in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Hosts are Carlton and Barb Schroeder. The meet hotel is the Eagle River Inn & Resort www.eriver-inn.com located on the beautiful Eagle River chain of lakes. Eagle River, in north-central Wisconsin is a vacation area with many lakes and attractions. Meet activity planning is now underway and will include group activity featuring lake or river cruising, touring of the world snowmobile championship track and museum (along with go-cart racing), and possible paper mill, winery, and cranberry bog tours. For those wishing to strike out on their own there are all sorts of activities including biking, hiking, canoeing, campfire/cookouts, casinoing, world-class fishing, and very interesting sight-seeing. For more info about the area please visit http://www.eagleriver.org/ I also will be attempting to compile a list of old-car yards that might be interesting to visit as you travel to the meet. We highly encourage you to make your reservations NOW. Those who wait may not get what they want. There are 65 rooms, Including 5 Condos, with different arrangements. Some are Lakeside with patios. Prices vary, so Reserve early after looking at the website and picking your room. There are many different accomodation options at the Eagle River Inn so it is best to view their website and then ask for Babette at X 221. The Inn nos. are 715-479-2000 or toll free at 877-479-2051. If Babette is not there leave your phone no. and she will call you back. With the Inn there is also a 5 condo units with each unit having 3 separate (outside locking) bedrooms with baths/TVs. These would be ideal units for 3 couples to rent together and then also have a full kitchen and living area for your group. Four couples could share the unit if the sofa-sleeper was used. The lower walk-out (to the lake) level of the condo building is reserved for our Club hospitality room. Boat Dock with Rental Boats and Canoes are right there for our pleasure. Separately, a very nice Super 8 motel (managed by the same people) is also available. It is about 1 1/2 mile away from the Inn, and while not on the water, it offers very good value and will serve as an overflow hotel if necessary. Our Saturday night banquet will be at the Eagle River Inn and will feature chef-carved prime rib, for under $30. Food (fish fries especially) are a big part of the Northwoods experience and I think you will be pleasantly suprised by the good values in the area. Also, please reserve Thursday night for a cookout at our house (about 10 miles south of the Inn). If you have other questions please feel free to call Carlton at 715-272-1837 or if the info might benefit our group please send it via Club email. Your Spring hosts - Barb and Carlton Schroeder look forward to having you join them there for the Spring Meet of 2008. ===================================================== FALL 2008 This Meet will be pricey, but the experience will be worth it for those who will never go to Maine just to visit. Those who attended the first Maine Meet raved about it and begged to go back. We're going back to a different location, Boothbay Harbor, a great and much in demand tourist spot on the coast of Maine. Now some words from our Hosts: Messrs. Mayer, Rust and Vaughan will host a Chrysler 300 Club meet Wednesday September 10--Saturday Sept 13, 2008 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. This is an exceptional venue. Boothbay Harbor is a tourist destination second only to Bar Harbor, with much to do in the village--along with the quintessential sights, sounds and smells of the rockbound Maine coast. I spoke with Cindy at the Boothbay Harbor Inn this morning. She and Bianca are taking reservations for the Fall Meet (Sept 10-14). If you call 1 800 533 6302 ask for Cindy or Bianca; they are the only two authorized to take our reservations, and they will do it happily. If you are a AAA member, and tell them, you will receive a 10% discount on the room you select. Bill and Ann Rust are working along with Herself and me to welcome you back to Maine. Jean Yves Chouinard will join us also to greet you when you arrive. On the other side of town from our hotel one of Boothbay's regional shipyards is rebuilding the Bounty. We are considering some short morning discussions about Maine history--fishing, shipbuilding, etc. that would inform those interested, but not be a college lecture series. Activities will be the same as they were in 2004-- a drive to particularly scenic areas of Maine, along the coast or inland, and a boatride off the coast. In 2008, the venue is closer to Freeport, home of L.L. Bean. If the weather is not perfect there are also museums in Bath and Portland that attract. The Saturday show will be at the Boothbay Railway Museum, a few miles inland from the harbor. Not only do they have old trains; they also have old cars. The Meet motel will be at the Boothbay Harbor Inn, at the head of the harbor. The hotel has 60 rooms plus the function rooms that we usually need; we have reserved the entire Inn. The hotel is expensive; rates range from $110 to $180 a night. You can find the motel on line at <www.boothbayharborinn.com>. The hotel is literally at the head of the harbor, beside a footbridge which leads across the harbor into Boothbay village. From shoreside rooms and the patio, the guests look down the harbor. Early in September, it will be a busy harbor. A second, less expensive hotel will also be recommended. We understand that the hotel rates are high, but we also know that Boothbay Harbor is one of the premier places on the coast of Maine. And let's not forget the Lobster and other Shellfish meals to die for. Your Fall Hosts: Doug and Herself (Susan) along with Bill and Ann Rust look forward to having you join them there for the Fall Meet of 2008.
