Just a note on these old point style clocks. When I bought my 74 Charger new which I still have it did not have a clock so I ordered one from the dealer. He tried to talk me out of it because they were so bad.The contact points get burnt up from the constant arching. You can clean them up and they might work for a few months then stop. So if you want something that will keep running go for a quartz conversion.I had this done with a couple of L's. Just recently did my charger. They work great keep perfect time. But you woln't have the click every couple of minuets or the jumping second hand.So that's my spin on the clock issue. ----- Original Message ----- . If you file trough the tin to the underlying brass they will oxidize much faster and will require period cleaning from then on. Use a contact cleaner and the burnishing tool frequently included with the cleaner.
