If a 300G was original shipped to a California dealer, there is a code for that, and the only thing it indicates is the bit of smog equipment as is on John's car. I suppose that code box could have been checked by a salesman in another state, or the retrofit done elsewhere, or the retrofit done during a brief period the car could have been registered in Calif, or, as John has implied, many owners found it desirable to eliminate blowby by use of a PCV in later years.
