Tomas, I actually have a pair of original factory copper coolant pipes from a G that I acquired a number of years ago, an I just dug them out for a look. They do not appear to ever have been painted or covered with any wrapping or other material, just left in their natural copper state. If you would like me to send you a digital photo of them, I'd be happy to do so.
