Re: [Chrysler300] valve train oiling on my 392

Cam bearings have to be in correct orrientation as do the rocker shafts and main bearings. Have also had machine shop fail to put cup plugs back in the rocker shafts. The oil passages block and heads need to be carefully and laboriously cleaned out with special long shaft wire brushes that are specifically designed for the purpose..All the bearings, main and cam, installed correctly with the oil passages cleaned, rinsed and wire brushed and rinsed again and you should have no problems. Hot tank and air blow will not properly clean oil passages. Furnace cleaning won't work either. Passages I think are sufficiently shown in factory manual so make sure to gain access to all the passages and clean properly.. Only way to clean rocker shafts I think is with cup plugs out, the proper long wire brush and then new cup plugs installed BTW. Brushes; mobile tool guys have them or on line Tool Warehouse.com. Not a lot of money. Basic oil pressure check OK?

ever since i first fired my hemi ive had trouble with getting oil to the
rockers. sent it back to the motor shop to re-clean the rockers. found crap in
the oil passages not blown out after the hot tank. the dino went without a
hitch but after pulling the valve covers found valves sparcely oiled. going to
have it torn down tomorow first to see if the holes in the cam bearing is lined
up in the block and possibly sending the cam out to be turned so the heads
will get oil on the whole rotation of the cam. has anyone had this problem and
  what was the remedy?
