Bill: Thanks for the report. 1955 Chrysler 300 cognoscenti : Does that price seem about "right"? Any other recent purchases or sales to report? Here is what NADA says today at: http://www.nadaguides.com Click on Classic cars, etc. to get to the Chrysler pages. 1955 Chrysler 300 2 Door Hardtop May 31, 2008 PRICING Original MSRP: $4,110 Low Retail $29,500 Average Retail Value $44,000 High Retail $93,400 At 93,400, a cherry 1955 Chrysler 300 will have appreciated to 22.7 times its original price. At $4.159/gallon, gasoline has appreciated to 13.5 times its 1955 price of $0.309/gallon. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you at MoPar Alley's 18th Annual MOPAR Rally tomorrow at Ohlone College, 43600 Mission Blvd, Fremont, CA tomorrow, or perhaps at Sparks Wednesday, for the Chrysler 300 Club, Inc. meet at the Nugget on Saturday. One can go into MoPar sensory overload at the Fremont show and ditto for 300-philes at Sparks. My vintage tranny guy replaced the rear seal and shifter seals on my PowerFlite, and both ended up leaking worse than before. Any secrets to getting a better job next time? I'm finding that adding an electric fuel pump and using it to prime the carbs after the car has set for some time really eliminates the hard starting problem. I set the pump up with a push button and I can hear it run until it fills the float chambers and changes tone. Then crank and go. The C300 didn't look quite as good in person as in the pictures but it seems to be a very restorable car. It did not have the correct air cleaner, the hubcaps had been stolen, and the interior was ratty, the drivers side window was cracked. It showed 86,542 miles, and ran roughly. They said it needed brakes. It had California black plates with a 1969 decal, Lic. number was GDZ889. Gloria, the serial number was 3N552574 Final bid was $21,000. No, I did not buy it.
