I have a 69 Dodge Power Wagon ,383 4 speed. with 3;55 gears and taller tires than stock. The factory Cam reached its peak Torque at 2800 RPM. which was 72 MPH. So I had Crowler Cams grind me a Cam which reached its peak Torque at 2500rpm which is 65 MPH. When driving empty or no load I could not tell the difference. But when I put my trailer on or a heavy load the truck performed so much better I couldn't believe it. I live in Mountain country and go up and down the High Sierras . I pass almost everybody going up Donner Summit. ---Thanks to Oky Bob for the Rear end Gears Gary Barker From: "Robert Merritt" <okbobwynmer@xxxxxxxxx> -----Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2008 1:01 PM To: "Richard Osborne" <richard@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Gear Change > Richard, > I don't have an F or G, but I did change to 2.76 gears in a 300-L back in > 1971. > What I found was that because of the cam timing, it actually got worse > mileage unless I was on a road with at least 70 MPH speed limit. > It would get 2 MPG better at 70 than at 60, and at 60 the engine sounded > like it was laboring.
