I keep a large pice of rubber inner tube under my spare tire, so if I have to use my bumper jack, I fold it up and put it on the hook before jacking. I would suggest carrying a bumper jack for show, but for changing a tire would recommend some other type of undercar jack. It slides out from underneath rather than hooking the underside of the bumper. It would be appreciated if someone could describe or send me a photo of a correct bumper jack hook for this car. That assumes the basic jack will accept the proper hook. The jacking mechanism has a notch that the hook fits into and the hook is then retained by a lateral spring. The car was restored by the previous owner and the restorer may have provided a very pretty jack, perhaps repainted and restored or even new. The jacking mechanism and base plate are light battleship gray. The hook has the following numbers on it: 2931101 and 93153. Those look to be much later part numbers so perhaps the whole jack is incorrect. The hook is 1 3/4" between the flats and 4 1/4" in length. I recall a criticism that the mechanism and base should be glossy black enamel. I'll be probably be needing a very nice proper bumper jack hook or a complete jack. Please let me know availability and terms for any extra jack or hook you have that may be surplus to your needs. I also need a proper retainer spring to hold the jack in its place in the trunk.
