Re: [Chrysler300] 300F stalling

Hi Paul,
I'm no expert on 300F's in particular, but this is how I would approach
it in order of ease of elimination.
I am about to fit some rams to a 60 Imperial coupe, so am keen to fully
understand this intake system.
Before you go ahead with any of this, wait for responses from others, as
they may have good info. to add. or correct me, if I am saying
something, not quite right.
1. Check points, replace condensor and overall distributor cond. /
sideplay / bushing wear / advance mech etc.
2. Also check timing as per recent discussion of the 300C and
possibility of a slipped outer ring, on your harmonic balancer.
3. Check or replace fuel filter and supply from pump to carbs. [ maybe
add some methylated spirits to your fuel tank, to get rid of any water
in the system ]. From what I've heard this works well, but anyone who
disagrees, please respond.
4. Hook up a vacuum guage to intake manifold to see if there is any
intake manifold leaks. I'm not sure of a ballpark reading, or if this
would be of help. Can anyone add to this system check ?
A way to check for intake manifold leaks is to spray a small amount of
WD 40 ? around gasket mating surfaces to see if idle speed changes /
improves. Check carb. bases are firmly bolted to intake manifolds,
sometimes these loosen with time, creating a leak at this point.
5. Finally, remove and fully go thru carbs, or possibly leave on and
just remove top peices to inspect bowls, for any contamination.
Hope this helps you in some way and please let us know your findings.
Good Luck,
Tony in Oz.
