I agree with others already saying they think the Club should try to get this item for the benefit of all those present and future 300B owners, however the reality likely will be it may not end too cheap? Like if a guy has a restored, or other rare 300B, how much more in extra Dollars$$$ to outlay, as a % of what the car oews/means to him/them/her/etc, is having such an item worth to them if they feel it makes owning their 300B more special/complete? If there are other such Press Kits in existance, and fairly common, then bids may not end high. Anyhow/whatever - Can I suggest I see the Club has two possible plans/options - (1) bid as high (using sniper for sure) as feel right, based on how many may say pay xdollars each towards the final/total auction purchase price for set of quality repos of it, that the also include cost of producing such sets? or Plan (2) - contact winning bidder, and ask how much for copy/scans of items to reproduce for Club Members wanting a set? Plan (2) only works if buyer agrees - so safer, is to asap ask current seller to do highest quality scan now, if they agree, and for how much ?! I have watched and bid on many such Ebay rare 1957 Daytona Beach and late 50s US Drag History items re my Daytona supercharged 300C, and if you come up against someone who wants a rare original print/photo/movie footage or other such historic item, finish prices of the order of $300+ USD are not unheard of - even if the item really only worth a few cents/dollars. It is not my place to suggest any figure for the Club, but one possible angle is to imagine if this was a currently unavailable 300B part, such as a badge/whatever, and they/Club try to figure how much per Club repo item should be outlaid to make such an item as a Club project ?! Obviously with this, if no 300B owner wants such an item, it fails, whereas if say 50-80+ 300B owners over say just the next 12-18 months want/buy a copy, then it allows figuring how high to bid?? That before it may then still sell many more atop this into the next 10-30 years? Christopher Australia - where I filled three 20 litre cans with 90 octane gas yesterday - just under $100!!! - still can't believe it - $100 for what, and this was a cheap price, not the weekend one where it another near $10 again, or if 96 octane, another extra $15 again. And a roll of cheapest 1 inch wide masking tape is $4.25 - lucky 300s dont have a lot of chrome to mask up, thank you for that Mr Exner !! ps whatever the Club decides re bidding on this item, do not say anything, otherwise shill bids may be run against/over whatever this figure?! We shouldprobably designate a 'club' bidder and have them set up a 'snipe'. Thatway club members don't bid against each other and drive up the priceneedlessly. Any thoughts to this idea?JL-----Original Message-----From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ron WatersSent: Tuesday, September 30, 2008 6:00 PMTo: pennsy300@xxxxxxx; Ray JonesCc: Chrysler 300 BroadcastSubject: Re: [Chrysler300] 300B Press KitThat's an easy one.Scan it into PDFs and display it on the club's website.
