RE: [Chrysler300] Wrong way wipers

'Wrong way wipers' - you don't understand that Rich?! Surely Rich it means the wipers spread the water out all over the screen, rather than wiping it off ???
Christopher down under, where for us driving on the 'wrong side' of road, is acrtually the right side for us, but is actually the left side, despite us calling our steering 'right hand drive'.

And for you US grain grower 300 members who ask,
Farmers started stripping their winter grain crops, those that are not so poor, they either baled, or just dead. Spring classic car cruizing season started, as well as annual swaps - gas price still near $1.50 a litre for 90 Octane, we told this because our aussie dollar has plunged from couple of months ago 95c to a USD, to around mid 60s - ebay items (300 stuff, etc ) real dear for us aussies nowadays. Likely not too many aussies buying 300s this summer, although new SRT 300 just around the corner, although it has huge jarring power shutoffs at well below rev limit revs if anyone knows what cause may be ??!

ps German Lanz Bulldog tractor was a post war crude oil single cylinder tractor you started by putting steering wheel end on into large side on exposed flywheel, then swinging on it, as one then hit the pump handle/prime. If lucky, it started fowards - you checked a little disc with a raised arrow. If it running backwards, you restarted it again, until you got it right, otherwise every forward gear was a reverse - not good if you backed over the plow behind !!!. Lucky they never had windscreen wipers.

When I got my C-300, the battery was connected backwards and the ammeterindicated discharge when charging. The car started and ran OK, although Idid not check the wipers and the radio never did work, even after I reversedthe leads to a proper positive ground and repolarized the voltage regulator.I think the ignition condenser may have shot craps due to the reversedpolarity, but I can't prove it.Now, I'm not sure how wipers run "backwards". Do they park at the outside, instead at the center?Out of curiosity, can anyone confirm the '56 and newer Chryslers were all12-Volt, negative ground cars? My 1955 Chrysler Service Manual has the Crown Imperial with 12-Volt,positive ground and all other '55 Chryslers with 6-Volt, positive ground.C-300'ly,Rich BarberBrentwood, CA-----Original Message-----From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] OnBehalf Of jlsavard@xxxxxxxxxxx: Saturday, October 18, 2008 9:54 PMTo: wmdgrn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx; Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: Re: [Chrysler300] Wrong way wipersIn a message dated 10/18/2008 11:44:29 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, wmdgrn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx writes:I have a c300 that I recently had rebuilt. When I rec'd the car from the restorer the windshield wipers are going backwards. I checked to see if thelinkage under the dash was installed backwards but it seems to only go inthe one way. Also, the ohmmeter reads discharge but the electrical system checksout and is charging. The wiring harness is new and the wires to both items seemto be properly attached. Anyone have any ideas? Are the two problemsrelated to a wiring mistake made along a common path to the two?Seems as though the polarity might be reversed, either in the battery orthe voltage regulator. I'm not an electrical wizard, and you didn't mention what year your C300 is, so you might have a 6 volt (Positive ground) or a12 volt (Negative ground) system. I hope someone else might be able to giveyou a more certain (I almost said a more positive!) answer. The voltageregulator on some or all of these must be "flashed" to establish the correct polarityof the system when it is installed.Let us all know the outcome.
