RE: [Chrysler300] Essex alternators on your 300?

I am still searching for the back half of one of these 'wide fin' alternators for my 61, as the last alternator rebuilder cracked the casing trying to install new diodes.

I have since found a Technical Service Bulletin that warns about replacement diodes being just slightly larger than the originals, and that care should be taken when installing new diodes and even a slight reaming/enlarging of the original holes is in order to avoid cracking the case.

 

If anyone has a spare 'back half' they'd like to sell please let me know.

Okay, trick question since I'm an old Hudson-Essex-Terraplane guy and this has absolutely nothing to do with Essex automobiles but I'll bet it is something you did not know, would be interested to know, and there is even date code information for the Chrysler manufactured alternators in the article for you judging types! The answer is YES, YOU DO!

And another trick question: Did the 300F have an alternator? No, and yes. No on the 375HP standard production engine and yes on the 400HP optional engine.
