There's no guarantee that your oil pump drive gear has been installed according to the timing convention recommended in the Chrysler service manual. If it's not you'll have to experiment. Otherwise, the oil pump drive gear should be installed with the distributor drive slot oriented parallel to the crankshaft when the crank is resting at TDC #1 firing position. The distributor is then installed with the rotor pointing forward-----the forward-most tower on the dist cap is then identified as #1. The distributor orientation should be such that the vacuum advance points toward the center of the engine.
