[Chrysler300] B-J 2009 prices & Ball & trunion?

1) Personal 'using old cars as daily drivers for decades' observation/view.

Car collectors, users, have seemingly become more demanding, and whereas a few years back it was alright/good to drive a nice looking (10-20 footer) classic, it seems nowadays too many people/friends they/you meet ask "are you going to restore it?!" ( My driver 300C, new correct interior about 10 years ago, and I gradually have upgraded re better original chrome etc, but I still get a few who ask 'am I going to restore it', but trouble is once you have a car concours, you use it way less, my Jag a perfect example, sat under multiple layers of covers, on carpet, etc, in alarmed security lock up, unused for over 2 years until I thought - stuff it, this is no fun, and am using it again from this week. So buying that C-300 at B-J for low $20s if you want a fun, no 'concours resto worries', a 300 'user' to tidy up as you wish, may be a smart way to go - that if the car not an auction ready bodged up headache?!)

And so cars like the C-300 at BJ seemingly was - a well loved and cared for low owner car - end up at a price that deducts the cost of a restoration - and nowadays that price is high/scary, so the auction end price is low.

2) I know it likely has been covered before, but what was reason (usually very highly regarded engineering-wise) Chrysler used (a) the current website repeat topic of 300 ball and trunion driveshafts? (b) those bloody annoying 300 rear axle tapered shafts that can be proper bastards to free brake drum from? (c) that equally highly annoying 'handbrake on brake drum on rear of transmission' ???!!!
I mean Chrysler otherwise did some really easy/good stuff - like today put 300C motor and trans as one back in the frame without the body on, and it was easiest motor & trans drop I have ever done, took a stunning maybe 30 seconds, like a 5 year old could have done it if supervising.

Brief answers will do, just the most basic reasoning Chrysler stated - that if anyone has that detail at hand easily. Don't know why I need to know now, other than annoying things annoy when they are so clear to see when working on an otherwise so well thought/engineered a car.

Christopher Australia - warm Sunday pm/night outside, was a brilliant huge orange sunset, but the lately ever noisy galahs and parrots quiet now, maybe because over 100 degrees tipped t/morrow
