I have pictures of myself sitting in Don's white 300F Special hardtop from a visit to Phoenix I made some 5 years ago or so. I hope he didn't take the drive train from that real car to make this 'tribute' car. I do remember seeing an ad in Hemmings a few years back for the 4 speed transmission from a Facel Vega and thinking how much fun that would be to put in my G, but the transmission alone was around $4K if I remember correctly. ________________________________ From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Kelly Sent: Friday, January 30, 2009 10:39 AM To: chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Old Cars Inaccuracy wayne: you are behind the times. he he clones are passe - now the new terminology is "rebodied". doesn't rebodied sound so much nicer than clone? let's see, we have gone from fake to clone to recreation to rebodied. and we have gone to fake vin, fake data plates, fake build sheets, restamped blocks, etc. same old adage - buyer beware!!! --- On Thu, 1/29/09, Wayne Graefen <wgraefen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:wgraefen%40windstream.net> > wrote: From: Wayne Graefen <wgraefen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:wgraefen%40windstream.net> > Subject: [Chrysler300] Old Cars Inaccuracy To: "Intl 300" <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:Chrysler300%40yahoogroups.com> > Date: Thursday, January 29, 2009, 9:03 PM http://www.oldcarsw eekly.com/ article/No_ gloom_and_ doom_at_Arizona_ auctions/ Any of you who take Old Cars, please note that the reference and photos to Don Petty's 300F black convertible should state that this car is a totally BOGUS clone of the one and only real 300F Special Gran Turismo convertible which was built with a 400HP short ram engine and Pont-a-Mousson 4speed transmission which was a white car in color. If anyone wants to know on who's authority that car is being called BOGUS, tell them Wayne Graefen said so.
