I had a similar problem with my C power seats. I had the switch rebuilt and the seat transmission overhauled by Jeff Carter at JC Auto in Lynnwood, WA. The problem was resolved the first time adressed by sending it to Jeff. Save yourself the worry, time amd hassle by spending the money to have it done correctly the first time by Jeff. My power seat now goes in the 18 different positions as advertised. Jeff can be contacted at 425-672-8324. The solenoids have to fire to select the movement mode and often they have failed due to moisture or some other problem. Yes, do take the seat off the base and look at the operation of the system. You may be able to diagnose the problem from there.
