[Chrysler300] FW: 1955 Chrysler 300 brochure

Hans' respons.

I'm sure he would be glad to get digital files of Chrysler 300 brochures
from us, as well as a few great shots of 300's to add some class to his
site.

Any thoughts on the legality/problems with our clubs publishing old car
brochures on our websites?

C-300'ly,

Hello Rich

Thank you for nice words :-)
Love your Chrysler 300, I will add it to Visitors rides.
If you have more pictures of it please feel free to send.

I would love to get that brochure, If you scan at 200 dpi the files will be
large enough for me to select a size for web.
About the copyright, there are already so much of this on the web, but if
someone want's me to remove I will have to do so.
I guess they will not, espesially as long as I don't earn money on this.
It's made for enthusiasts and as documentation. Time will show.....

Thank you for the corrections on the Flathead :-) I will fix that.......

Anything else to share? Car show pictures?

Have a nice day in California.
Best regards from a freezing cold Kristiansand, Norway

Enclosed a winter picture of my Corvette and Kristiansand today...

Hello, Hans:

I was guided to your excellent website by a fellow Chrysler 300 club member
who had discovered it. I have a very good 1955 Chrysler 300 sales brochure
that I would love to see added to your website. Can I have it scanned and
send you the file? What process and resolution works best for the brochures
and your website?

I'm not sure an American organization could post so many brochures without
getting into copyright problems, so more power to you. If you will advise
how best to send digital images of a brochure to you, I'll post it on our
club server to see if other members might be willing to share their precious
brochures with you and the world wide web. I also see that you are
soliciting high-res pictures and perhaps other members will want to share
pictures of their "Beautiful Brutes" with you.

I was quite impressed with the 1952 Chrysler/Ghia C-200 brochure on your
website as I had never heard of that car. I think those would sell well
today. The simulated spare tire cover on the trunk lid showed up on 1960
Chryslers, Imperials and Valiants. The gunsight taillights were featured
on Chrysler Imperials for many years. The wheelbase of the later Chrysler
300's was ½" longer than that of the C-200 convertible. The wide white
sidewall tires were standard on Chrysler 300's for many years and the fully
cut out and chrome-trimmed rear wheel wells of the C-200 appeared briefly on
the 1955 Chrysler Imperial coupes.

Unfortunately, Chrysler did not see fit to equip the early Chrysler 300's
with the Imperial disc brakes and 17" wire wheels were never offered-only
15". There are some similarities between the massive C-200 grille and the
split grilles of the 1955-56 Chrysler 300's and Imperials. The first
Chrysler 300 model was called a C-300, a very similar name to the C-200.
The 1955-58 Chrysler 300 engines were "hemis", and very similar to the
FirePower hemi engine in the C-200.

I have attached a high resolution picture of our 1955 Chrysler C-300 which
you may add to your website if you wish. The 1955 and 1956 Chrysler 300's
were the fastest American stock cars both years and also won the NASCAR
championships each year. Many credit the 1955 Chrysler 300 as the first
"Muscle Car" and as starting the horsepower wars. As an automotive writer,
I assume you have read many of the magazine articles about the 1955 and
later Chrysler 300's that have been published over the years. Chrysler
300's were manufactured between 1955 and 1971, then again, beginning in 1999
to date. Hemi engines are also available in current Chrysler 300's. I see
you have a picture of a 2000 Chrysler 300 roadster. This was only a
prototype and, unfortunately again, never produced for sale. Many thought
that parent Mercedes Benz did not want a roadster or coupe to compete with
M-B's. We shall see what owner Fiat has in mind for the marque.

A correction on the Ford flathead in your garden. Ford flathead V-8's were
produced 1932-1953, not 1954. Ford brought out their overhead valve
"Y-Block" V-8 in 1954, three years after Chrysler and five years after
Cadillac and Oldsmobile.

We find that interest in American cars remains high in the Scandinavian
countries. Thanks for creating and sharing your website.
