Re: [Chrysler300] Chrysler 300G radiator overflow configuaration

Joe, Gary, and All:
You are correct, the 300G did not have a radiator coolant recovery
reservoir. From what I can tell from my parts book, none of the lettercars were
so equipped. I don't know about the Hurst, but would imagine that feature
to be present by 1970.
On light color cars, the radiator support was painted a medium/low gloss
black so that it would not show thru the grille. If the car was black, or a
dark color, this was not done. I remember this operation being done just
as the car body was coming out of the painted car "bank" to be boarded on
the line leading to the trim dept. Suffice to say, it was not a precision
operation. There was no masking off, so some overspray should be present on
the fender inner forward of the support.

Joe; I am notan expert, but do have an oridginal 300 G convert., which I
did redoe as new, but also have an 61 New Port that is as it was born. I
have used it as a pattern for all the work on the 300 . Niether of them
had a radiator overfflow, but there was a tubing leading down to the drivers
side of the radiator to the lower area on the support. I have added a
plastic bottle to help both of them to be better drivers. Also I believe that
the radiator support was painted white, but the New Port is now painted
radiator black. This helps the grill stand out, better than with a white
background behind the grill. Perhaps Gil C. could give a ruling on this.

Subject: [Chrysler300] Chrysler 300G radiator overflow configuaration

Can someone please describe to me or send me a picture of the correct
radiator overflow configuaration for a 300G?

I current have a plastic overflow tank in the area between the radiator
and the grill but it is not mounted and I do not believe it is the right
tank, etc.

Thanks,

Joe Agins
