Thanks to the several who promptly added to my education on the year of the switch of Chrysler parking brakes from the tailshaft of the tranny to the rear brake drums. I once had a nice '63 Chrysler Newport and its Torqueflite with a Park position was a nice feature. My previous cars had been mostly stick shift cars. C-300'ly, Rich Barber Brentwood, CA Rich, FYI, Chrysler converted to cable operation of the rear brakes for the "parking brake" starting with the 1963 models, also the same year they introduced the "park" lever on the transmission. 1963 was the first year for the cable operated emergency brake on the rear wheels. FWIW, 1967 was the first year for the dual master cylinder. Can't tell you what judges do and don't deduct for safer brakes........ ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: Chrysler300-unsubscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/Yahoo!
