A better explanation is that direct current (DC) flows from + to -. The
motor responds to current direction, therefore, current through the motor
will cause it to run. Reversing the motor's wires relative to the
polarity will cause the current to flow through the motor in the opposite
direction, hence, the motor will run in the opposite direction from the
first polarity.
