As I recall, there is a specification for the ride height that is based on a
distance from the top of the rear axle to a designated spot under the body
or frame. This takes the tires out of the equation.

Doug,
This may seem dumb to everyone, but is the tire pressure equal? Switch
positions of the cars and see if it's still the same.

Hi Larry,
Thanks for the reply.
Would you let me know what the diameter o r radius of your 14" tire is?
A friend has a 62 sport conv. with 14" tires and the radius is 13"
The radius on my H tires is 14-1/2".
The difference of 1-1/2 " would increase your 9" measurement to 10-1/2"
which is close to the 11" on my H2 .

Doug,
Just for laughs, I went out and measured my 300 Sport, which by the way, was
also built in November 1961. It measured exactly 9" with 14 inch tires,
original leaf springs and new original replacement hydraulic shocks. I'm not
exactly sure what this information means, but I thought I would pass it on
to you. I would be interested in learning what conclusion, if any, that you
ultimately came to.
Good luck with your results,

Hi Group,
I have a 2 inch difference in the height measurement from my garage floor to
the horizontal bottom of the rocker panels on my two H's.
Both cars have 15" wheels and identical 235-75R-15 tires.
H1 was built in April 1962, has new Eaton springs and KYB gas shocks. It has
an average height measurement of 9 inches.
H2 was built in November 1961, has original springs (possibly re-tempered),
and new original equipment hydraulic shocks. It has an average height
measurement of 11 inches.
Did something in the manufacturing process change from November 61 to April
62?
