My 300L has beautiful black carpet in the trunk and it was standard - not on the options list.  Perhaps it was a running change in the model run.  My L was built in May.  I would welcome hearing from others on the listserver who have 300Ls.  What is the VIN and what is the trunk lining?  I will be glad to make a small database with the info.  If the early ones had vinyl and the later ones carpet, the VINs would determine the changeover point.  If the early ones have carpet that will be interesting.

I am still trying to determine at what point in the production run they changed from one lamp (bulb) in the red taillights to two.  It was probably fairly early on.  The two on each side look far nicer and provide an additional measure of safety.  The back-up lights are not included in this issue.

  All my 300'Ls had vinyl in the trunks. This would be 11 so I could be correct. I replaced many with the New Yorker carpet as it fits perfectly and doesn't fall apart as the vinyl has. Don Rook
