Jerry, You can use the relay for automatic by making a ground jumper wire to connect to the terminal that normally goes to the transmission's neutral safety switch. Just a short wire is needed to run from that terminal to one of the screws that mounts the relay the fender or firewall. That's a good fix, but if you still want an original setup you might want that as just a temporary fix until you can locate a proper relay with internal coil grounding. -----------------Marshall Goodknight ---------- Original Message ---------- From: "Jerry Lindsay" <jerrylindsay.300h@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Chrysler 300 Club,Intl" <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [Chrysler300] Starter Relat-Standard Shift-1962 Chrysler 300's Date: Wed, 4 Aug 2010 10:50:37 -0400 Members, I've been having problems with my 62 Chrysler 300 Sport Coupe with a standard 3-speed transmission. I've been away on vacation to Eastern Pennsylvania the past two weeks and have returned to work on the car to address this starting problem 1.- It will start if I put a screwdriver on the starting relay on the inner fender. 2.-I tried different relays off the other 62's I have-no result. 3.- I looked in the NAPA website and they have (2) two starter relays listed. a. one for automatic transmissions b. one for 3-speed standard transmissions Somehow I misplaced my 62 parts catalog so I cannot check to see if there indeed are (2) relays listed. Can someone confirm if I need to purchase another relay or not. Thank you, Jerry Lindsay in "HOT" Florida, weather in Quakertown, Pa was beautiful. Wished I would have had time to see Mark Souder and some of the other 300 members while I was there. Perhaps later this fall.
