John; I think Kendall is a better formulation especially in the G-1 High Performance 30SAE. I have been using it in my Mexican Road Race car for 21 years. If you are not familiar with it that is currently a 7 day full bore 8 hour per day mostly high speed but grueling event.(not your typical country side tour) I also use it in the 300's and change it twice a year or 2500 miles with filter. These cars get very little highway except for short runs on the freeway so it is important to change often. OH! at $3.65 / quart it is a very safe bargain . They do not recommend using the "Not Street Legal" in our 1957 300C as this mixture has no detergents in the oil. In 1965, we were using Valvoline 30W Non-Detergent oil in the 300C and we had a valve stick open, of course that was the oil to use in our 300's at that time. I pulled the engine and did a complete over haul---cam, lifters, bore and pistons etc. Later, we used Detergent Valvoline Racing oil 30W. We are still using the Racing oil 30W. I believe it has the zinc in it that we need--which is why it is not street legal at least for catalytic cars. Before I began using it, there was a slight knock in the valve train. Since I've begun using it, the knock is only in my head. I get it at the NAPA in Belfast, Maine.
