Hi Johnnie, I've been down this road and will try to offer some advise. A few years ago I rebuilt my 300C 392 engine. As per George Riehl I purchased an Isky cam (the one he provided the part # on). It was installed and the car ran terrible with no vacuum and every time I pushed the "N" button when the car was running it would engage the started due to no vacuum. I pulled an old Isky Cam Catalog I have and this was the most radical cam they offered for the early Hemi engine. Since then I've found that others within the club have had exactly the same problem with that cam that was recommended. All of us have changed out to another grind and no longer experience the problem. Here is what I did on the change. I contacted George at Clay Smith Cams http://www.claysmithcams.com/. He provided me a performance cam from a "blank" and not a "regrind". If you understand cam technology the base circle will be modified when a cam is reground, thus it can effect the valve geometry. By using a "blank" your base circle starts with a correct dimension. This was a "modern grind" as camshaft technology has leaped forward in the past 50+ years. The bottom line is that my car and I've heard the others I've mentioned work well today. One other thing you may not be aware of. The 1955 cam gear is designed to attach via an outside threaded camshaft. This changed in 1956 when the cam end was drilled and tapped for an internal bolt. For a long time the early version (1955 & earlier) cam gear was very difficult to find, but I've heard they are now available. I hope this information will be of some assistance, John Lazenby ----- Original Message ----- From: Jonnie To: chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, November 15, 2010 6:07 PM Subject: [Chrysler300] C300 cam Does anyone know where I can get a new ----replacement-----camshaft for a C300---the owner of the car wanted a slightly more radical cam installed when I rebuilt the motor so I installed one that George Riehl recommended.
