Good morning all, I don't have an answer/reason for this, but I have a similar experience. My Dad bought a 62 Newport station wagon new, (I'm guessing the main reason why I like the H/62s so much). During the 60's, the rear window of that wagon blew out 4 or 5 times, for no reason at all. We would be driving down the street and POW, the rear window just blew out. I remember once the car was sitting in the driveway and POW the rear window blew out. (That incident was blamed on too much heat build up inside.) Other than the heat buildup, the dealership never had an answer as to why that rear window kept blowing out. (and we know it wasn't heat buildup on your C!) Good Luck. I just got off the phone with my body man. On Friday afternoon he had almost finished welding in new floor section complete on both left and right sides, if this could possibly have any bearing on the following: This morning he arrived on a 16 degree morning (the car is indoors) to find the rear glass of our '57 coupe complete crazed in a million pieces. It's still intact in the the opening, but completely shattered. He called the glass people out and they could find no point of impact or any other reason it is shattered. It's still in the rubber gasket in the car. First question is how the devil this happened. And the second question is whether any of you can help me out with a replacement for it. It's a Solex, and I suppose it would be the same for '57, '58, and '59. I should also have a good gasket if you have one. A little help here, please?
