I had the same problem with the new shoes on my ’55 C-300.  I took the shoes back to the brake reline shop (in Stockton), along with the drums and had the shoes arc ground to the drums.  Originally, some of the drums would fit over the new shoes, but not all.

Hi Group, 

Just installed relined brake shoes on the rear of my 62 Sport conv. and can't get the drums to fit over them. 

Yes, I backed off the adjusting nuts. 

The lining thickness is 1/4 inch and I am thinking that is too thick and should be around 3/16 inch. 

Help!
