First off, the "low reverse band" does not apply when you come to a stop in drive. It only applies in manual low when you push the low button. The one way clutch is what holds in normal drive position when you come to a stop. When you have the problem, try pushing the low button and see what happens. Could just be a sticking governor, or shift valve. If I did this transmission, that means it has been sitting around for years in what kind of storage conditions I don't know. Oh and BTW a 3-1 full throttle kickdown is about the most punishment you can do to a transmission, especially a ram car. It should take it of coarse, but if you are going to regularly beat the crap out of it, a trans cooler is a must. 300ly, Don Verity ----- Original Message ----- From: Brandt Jimerson To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2011 2:01 PM Subject: [Chrysler300] Fluid: Pink as can be!! Hello to all in 300sville! Well everybody, I think I caught it in time! I I've put around 75 semi- hotrodded miles on Melissa since I put in the F type fluid in and she's seems to be 99% perfect. The reason why I say 99% is because when cold (within first 3 minutes of driving), when I come to a stop after going through an easy 1,2,3 shift pattern, the low reverse (1st gear) band still does not apply. However, the 2nd or 3rd time after an easy 1,2,3 shift pattern, she is perfect! I'm a little scared about trans not going to 'break away' within the approximate, first 3 minute time frame but hoping sometime (somehow) that will change. From the very beginning absolutely cold after starting engine and pushing drive, she goes into 1st fine. Why is that!? Now for the good part: After I took her for a spin, I looked at the end of the dipstick and it was as pink as could be!! Then I smelled it, and it smelled PERFECT like trans fluid should smell!! Any suggestions on my '1% of error'!? Sincerely & 300ly, Brandt H J with an almost perfect G.
