Re: [Chrysler300] Fw: 300F Electrical Problem

Terry,
The Chrysler service manuals give a very good description of how these voltage regulators should be serviced. I don't attempt to remember the specs required for a proper set-up, but always refer to my manual when on those very rare occasions some attention is needed. My '65 Barracuda still wears its original alternator and regulator, and yes I know that to be a fact because I bought it new and I'm the only one to ever work on it. I've serviced the regulator 3 times since I bought it in Oct. '64. Also have replaced alternator brushes twice 239kmiles----almost 47 years

Subject: 300F Electrical Problem

My 300F is having electrical issues. On occasion (more often than I want) the ammeter will peg itself at maximum charge. I can fix the problem by raising the hood and tapping on the voltage regulator with the handle of a screwdriver, and things return to normal. Since these regulators are getting hard to find, I would rather fix than replace. Clearly something inside is sticking. Does anybody out there have an idea as to which set of points might be sticking, and what I might do to rectify this problem? Terry McTaggart
