Hello Everyone, I've had numerous responses to my brake quiry and now have a list of possibilities to examine. Perhaps I should clarify things somewhat and provide some additional information. First, the strong pull to the left occurs ONLY when the brakes are applied forcefully -- light brake pressure creates little pull, if any -- and the car drives fine when the brakes are not applied. Second, not only were four new brake cylinders added, but the front brake hoses were replaced, new metal lines to the rear brakes were added, and the system was flushed extensively with brake fluid (which it really needed). The original shoes and drums looked good and were used without modification as this problem was not noticed right after the car arrived. After adjusting the brakes according to the manual, the wheels rotate as expected and all seems OK. Although the right front drum gets quite hot after driving for 5-10 minutes, which could decrease its braking, the pull exists even after start-up when the drums are cold. This behaviour currently has us puzzled. Anyway, we'll tackle the problem again tomorrow and will consider all your appropriate suggestions so far. Thanks for the input. Among other things, it needed new brake cylinders and lines and all were replaced. The brake linings and drums all looked good with no leakage or unusual wear. Now, during driving and moderately hard braking, the car pulls strongly to the left. After stopping, the right front drum is very hot. The brakes were adjusting according to the service manual. We are going to pull the right front wheel and examine it, but any suggestions before we do so would be appreciated. Thanks.
