I second this opinion. In both AVS and AFB carburetors, the idle and low speed circuits can gum up easily, especially with ethanol fuel now. The AVS carburetors are actually worse since their passages are even smaller than in the AFB clusters. The only way to get them clean that I know of is to remove the clusters in the primary circuit and use some carburetor cleaner in a spray can and a very thin wire that will go through the small holes/tubes in those clusters to be sure they are clean. When the carb spray goes through them at a good rate, you know they are clean. Just dipping these clusters in typical carburetor cleaner doesn't do the job, which is what most people tend to rely on. I started doing this additional operation on all my carb rebuilds, and the results are night and day. Mike is right.
