Sign up for AAA Plus. Around here, it's about $100. It entitles you to three 
tows of up to 100 miles. They also have a recently-introduced service which 
will give you a number of tows up to 200 miles. It's nice to have this 
'insurance' in case you break down in the middle of nowhere.

My gal, Diane, is skeptical about travelling in an old car, 47 years old for 
8 hrs or so. We will leave Virginia on Tuesday, spend the night halfway up 
the road, and continue on Wed. morning.

With tools and parts in the trunk, she insists on me having a emergency 
number to call!

Outside of 1-800-hel-pme, what else can I tell her? Probably will be a good 
300 story.
