Bill, I used this "fix" on an H and it worked well. I didn't remove the cable, used some sealant inside the split fuel line and then secured the split line with small hose clamps. I only had a small tear on the existing covering about 6 inches up from the transmission. Slip it over the shift cable then slide it all the way down to the base at the transmission. Grab a handful of zip ties and tightly secure this new "sleeve" to the cable. Hillbilly engineering? Yeah, I'll admit that (because I am indeed a true hillbilly!) But, this forgoes the painful experience of disconnecting and reconnecting the shift cable to and from the transmission. I am an old club member and I did look under the 300 Tech Department area...but found nothing, thus wrote y'all. Thanks! This has not been covered "50 times". At least not on the 300 list. Not everyone is on the Forward Look list, I only joined there last month. I don't think you are being fair or accommodating here. Keep in mind there are newcomers to the list that don't know all that you know. There is nothing in our Tech Section about fixing this problem, perhaps there should be. This is not the Forward Look List, this is the 300 Club list.
