I believe that's one of the keys behind Collector insurance being so low. They KNOW most of us won't damage a car if we can help it. They were interested in the circumstances, which were bizarre, but they nebver questioned the claim. My other two collector cars are insured by JC Taylor, who has also been excellent to deal with. I once listened to a JC Taylor rep addressing our car club, and the question of "cheating" on claims came up. He said he had recently dropped the JC Taylor insurance for a client who had bought a Citroen Traction Avant, and had filed a claim for rock damage which was allegedly done to his project car on the trailer on the way home. The only damage done was to a horribly expensive piece of chrome. They thought the claim was highly suspicious for a number of reasons, but they paid it. When renewal time came up, they didn't offer to renew his policy.
