You can take your toaster oven out to your garage (or even outdoors), and cook your old receiver/dryer at 400 degrees or so (with the fittings open) for a couple of hours. It will stink like crazy but it will bake out the collected contaminants and moisture, "rejuvenating" the unit to work as new. If you sandblast it first, you can even paint it with high temp black and use the baking process to super cure the finish. Be sure to cap the fittings after baking until you reinstall it to keep it dry inside.
