Sounds like the debate is still open on when the change from vacuum to electric took place. Any others out there with more information? By pressing the single pole double throw switch mounted on the right and left front door trim panel, a solenoid in each of the four doors is actuated, moving the latch locking lever into the lock or unlock position. All doors may be locked or unlocked either mechanically or electrically. To lock mechanically push the front door handle to the forward position and depress the rear door locking button. To lock electrically depress the switch to lock or lift upward to unlock the doors. The wiring diagram includes a diagram showing the switches in the front doors connected to a door lock relay that then feeds solenoids in all four doors. The options list shows the power door locks available on all 4-drs and retailing for $56.00 The 1963 Chrysler Service Manual indicates a similar system to be available on the Imperial, only.
