Does anyone have real-world comparison of standard vs. HD brakes on the '64 300's? I'm wondering whether the additional swept area/lining area on the rear brakes translated into shorter stopping distance and/or less fade. As Gil (I think) said, the $ might better have gone into finned aluminum front drums. I'll save your email and hopefully will be able to give more specific information via the listserver. But as John indicated in a follow up to your email, the K and L were indeed watered down. Ironically, the K had the highest production of the Letter Cars and the L was second. The again, maybe it wasn't all that ironic because the base prices had come down and many items that had previously been standard were now options. People could choose their options and keep the price at a more reasonable level. Just to mention a few options, vinyl was standard, leather optional. Various power accessories were optional. And of course, the HD brakes and suspension. It may take a bit of time, but I will try to get the specific comparisons of the HD versus the standard brakes and suspension. What is the difference between heavy duty (HD) brakes/suspension and the standard "L" brakes/suspension and how can I tell which I have? I was under the impression that all letter cars had HD everything. 300 regards...George in San Diego ---- Don Warnaar <300country@xxxxxxx <mailto:300country%40msn.com> <mailto:300country@xxxxxxx <mailto:300country%40msn.com> >> wrote: > When I ordered my 300L and went through the option list, the heavy duty brakes and suspension was a $35 option.
