Don Verity is correct and the problem with installing cross rams on a B engine with exhaust heat to rams is that most of the longer elbows cracked. They are not reproduced like the short elbow heat tubes (that act as supports also). Need the right exhaust manifolds. Would need to make custom supports or the rams most likely will crack. Good point!! Now that I think more about it,that is true, the rams would overhang on a B block engine and therefore the elbows and heat tubes are different compared to the 413 engine. Thank you for clarifying that Don and Jim! There most certainly is a difference in distance between a B and RB engine. Since the rams are the same length, and the B engine is narrower, the rams overhang the valve covers more. So you need longer elbows and heat tubes. I have done it about 12 years ago, installed a set in a 60 Polara. The rams themselves will fit, they are the same unit across the Chrysler line of cars. When I did my „conversion‰, I did not have exhaust manifolds so ran the engine without chokes, had to let the engine warm up in colder temperatures... The 361 is a B block and the 413 is a RB block, so the 413 is a little taller. So if you have the correct ram car exhaust manifolds, the „return‰ heat pipes that go from the rams to the exhaust pipe may need to be slightly shorter? But the short elbows that go from the rams to the exhaust manifolds should fit o.k. as the manifold is bolted to the heads, therefore no distance changes there between a 413 and a 361. Good luck and have fun! Thanks in advance from wintery PA.
