RE: [Chrysler300] Hijacked Account

Some of us did not get the message, as some antivirus software will catch
this junk. I have been using Norton for at least six years. It is both
somewhat expensive and resource intensive but thus far has protected the
computer. If nothing else it routes the junk messages to the "antispam"
email folder automatically where I simply delete such messages.

Cyber attacks occur every day; a sad fact of life.

Dan:

I did this when you suggested it and so far, so good. I entered that string
as a full name, then entered a dummy e-mail address consisting of that
!000!0000@xxxxxxx <mailto:%21000%210000%40aol.com> Would that be part of
your instructions?

I think that what happens when an address book is hacked/highjacked/copied
is that everyone in the address book gets a mildly aggravating and obviously
fraudulent message and deletes it. The rest of the story is that all those
e-mail addresses are now copied onto a DVD and sold in the internet cafes
around the world. So, look forward to more spam and offers of oil riches in
Nigeria, lottery winnings in Britain, cheap Viagra from Canada and offers to
buy your letter car for 25% more than its worth.

I've got to wonder why the anti-spam/anti-virus programs can't protect
against this threat. On my most paranoid days, I wonder if it is not "Big
Brother" visiting my computer and nosing around.

All sympathies to those who have been hacked.

Hi all:

I mentioned this in an e-mail some time ago when Pete Fitch's e-mail was
hijacked. If you enter !000!0000 as the first entry of your address book,
this is supposed to prevent anyone from hijacking it's contents. The hint
was given to our computer club by a visiting computer expert. Those 0's are
zeroes, not the letter O.

Gook luck.

Hi David,
This happened to a friend who changed his email address, passwords, sent
notices out and in general was in email uproar for weeks.

It happened to me, and I ignored it. Nothing adverse happened, and yes, a
few friends got the note but they all realize it's a scam.

I did change passwords, but I do that periodically anyway. I did not
change email addresses, which you are not suggesting either.

Hi All,
It appears that John's email account has been hijacked. Please ignore a
correspondence from him sent at 9:17am Eastern Time today that describes a
trip to Manila where he was reportedly mugged and is now asking for funds.

If he's ever in Manila, I have no doubt that John would manhandle the
assailant to the ground, educate him on the intricate history of the 300
cars
and then turn said criminal over to the authorities.

If someone has contact info for John aside from his email address, can you
please suggest that he change his email password immediately? I'm
currently on the road and not near the Club Roster book.
