About 4 weeks ago I drained the transmission and torque-converter in my 62 300 Convertible, cleaned the screen and filled it with new Type A Transmission Fluid. I used up all I had of Type A so I went online and ordered another case of Type A Transmission Fluid. It was a case of 12 quarts delivered to my home for $29.95. That figures out to be $2.24333 per quart which isn't a bad price. So while Type A is hard to find it's not impossible to find. I guess that as long as I can find Type A fluid, I'll be using Type A fluid. Last weekend I went to a car show and they had a guy giving a seminar (his opinions from his experiences) on vehicle fluids. Mainly engine oils and transmission fluids. He said that changing engine oil at 3,000 miles is a waste of time, money and natural resources. He had oil tested at a lab at 5,00 and 7,500 miles and they still tested ok. He also said that the Synthetic Oils, Engine as well as Transmission Fluids , are far superior than the conventional products. --- On Mon, 5/14/12, Mark Lindahl <mplindahl@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Mark Lindahl <mplindahl@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [Chrysler300] Using Dextron 5 in an Aluminum Torqueflight To: chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Monday, May 14, 2012, 10:15 AM Hi All, I had my '63 torqueflight rebuilt last year, but it needed to be readjusted/rebuilt again since the car moved forward (slight creep) when the engine was revved in neutral. I think they did not pay attention to the gap need in the clutches. When I brought the 300 back to them, I asked them to use 'Type F' trans fluid. Now, it is done and I asked the guy, 'Did you use Type F Trans fluid?' His response was, 'No, but we used Dextron 5 synthetic fluid and it really is a better trans fluid and it should work fine.' He told me to drive the car and bring it back if I find any issues. Should I expect to have any short-term or long-term problems? Thanks, Mark Lindahl '63 300 Conv.
