Shannon and all, Tires will deteriorate with age, running down the road or sitting in a garage. Doesn't matter if the tires are radial or bias ply. So, conservatively after 6 or 7 years high speed running might not be advisable. Tires with wide white sidewalls are either tires produced in the last few years or some goodies that have been stored for many years. From experiences (and stories from this group) I do not consider either wide white acceptble for anything close to performance driving. The tires on my 300 were Firestone 500's and a good performance tire in the day. I have not seen any bias ply tires available today of that type. Is there a speed rating on reproduction tires? Radial tires we run today are speed rated. There are some available rated sustained 100+ but most are 90 MPH rated with a lot of light truck tires shown at 75 MPH. Engine coolant and brake fluid are pretty much OK but for engine oil, transmission oil and tires, the original specification recommended replacements are just not available.
