Is it the alcohol/ethanol not so much real gas, which make the fuel evaporate after stoping? The modern fuels are made to work in a closed high pressure system where they are not as volatile as in an vented open air system.....(ps: it is what is left behind after evaporation that bothers me; like fuel sludge in the bowl and jets.) Are new rebuilds supposed to run hot? 1) After returning home from a ride with a hot engine, the next day there is no fuel in the bowls. Many cranks are needed to get fuel to the carb. I am a bit worried about the starter and surrounding cables. 2) After a hot ride and then the 300 sits for 30 min, there is a small amount of flooding. This is easier to handle. Just hold the throttle wide open and it starts fairly quick. I will say that there seems to be a lack of fuel in the bowls under this condition and the engine seems starved for fuel for about 20 seconds until it can catch up. Therefore, the electric fuel pump would be needed for item 1 above. Thanks for all the input. Do you have any symptoms of vapor lock? Starves for gas when it is hot outside. If you answer those 2 questions, I will render an opinion. This would be for a '63 Chysler 300 Conv. with single 4 bbl. 413 If you have other suggestions, let me know. Let me know your comments. There have been many comments about using the electric fuel pump to 'fill the bowls', but I would like to hear again the pros and cons of running the fuel through the engine mounted pump.
