I was able to get the bottom in place and the top stud in the hole, then I cut the cord and let it expand. It worked out pretty well although I had to pry the bottom into place to get the bolt in. Recently I rebuilt the suspension and left the shocks bolted in place at the top and removed the lower control arms. If you can justify it,unload the torsion bars and disconnect the lower control arms at the ballpoint,shock installation is easier that way.
