Hi Lindsey, It sounds like you have the wrong starter. It should not bind on the ring gear when engaged. The oval tag on the starter will have a Chrysler # and an Autolite #. My E starter is 1770712 Chrysler and MDT 6002 Autolite. These are the same as is listed in the 59 supplement. I don’t think they would be any different for Canada. 300ly, Don Verity From: Lindsey Fuller Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2012 8:53 PM To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [Chrysler300] 413 starting motor Having trouble with my haunted E again. The rebuilt, maybe 400 miles tops use starter I installed last fall after the previous one chewed up the teeth, has just died. The plunger activates when turning the key to start, dims the lights, so there is a big current draw, but does not engage the starter, so that points to the starter solenoid. After several tries installing the mechanic got it to work last year without "growling" to much and has worked ok, but it appears to be under more stress than my F, which is pretty much identical, except it has a 440 in it. I have repaired the motor I took out last year ( was on the car for 15 yrs before rebuilding it) , but I don't want to install it if it is not 100% correct. Could someone cross check the stamping on this starter for me? The stamping is 1834 211 99214 Keep in mind this car has been in Canada all it's life as far as I know & perhaps part #'s are not the same. Thanks for any help.
