I always believed Chrysler used 413 engines through the 1965 model and then moved on to 440s. I have a matched set of 1966 300 rags out back and decided to see if either was a 440. Got the red car from Don Rook, the turquoise one belongs to a bigshot from Apple. The FSM calls for a G in the vin if it has a 413, and F if a 383 and a J for a 440. Shocked with this news, I inspected the engine callout on the block. The one car has but 2 identical stamps looking like a capital P a bit backwords. This was no help so went to the red one. The engine blank is very hard to decipher but the one plain and clear stamp is a 1. Neither 383 or 440 have a 1 in them so........413's were still shipping in 1966. Everybody knows that but me? jettlarry@xxxxxxx Larry Jett 510-794 7911 Newark CA [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join and select the "Leave Group" button For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylangYahoo!
